“Hoot” Debuts as Owls Mascot

The Forest City Owls mascot “Hoot” has arrived in Forest City nearly two months ahead of the Owls first home game on May 29. Hoot will be a regular fixture at McNair Field this summer, as well as at events throughout Rutherford County.
“We felt it was very important to have Hoot report to Forest City early for extended spring training” said Owls general manager James Wolfe. “We have him working hard every day to perfect his Chicken Dance and tarp sliding abilities.” To prepare for his first season in Forest City, Hoot has been training with The Philly Phanatic, Mr. Met, and the Cleveland Indians’ Slider over the winter.
“It was a great honor to work with such outstanding mascots this winter” commented Hoot. “I am glad to be here in Forest City, and can’t wait for the Owls first game.”
Hoot will make his public debut Saturday, April 12 at the Healthy Kids Day at Isothermal Community College beginning at 10 a.m. Hoot will also be on hand at the Chase Little League opening day on April 19, May Fest in Rutherfordton on May 3, and at the Rutherford Little League on May 10. In addition to Hoot, the Forest City Owls will also bring their inflatable speed pitch to each event.
These upcoming events will provide the people of Rutherford County a sneak peek at the game day attractions that will be at McNair Field during Owls home games this summer. Fans can also pick up an Owls schedule, purchase tickets, or sign up to be a host family.
