Owls Add Power Hitter to the Lineup
Forest City has added another solid bat from the state of South Carolina to help bolster the team’s lineup. Bryan Fogle from Erskine College will bring his power-hitting approach to the Owls this summer in his first experience in summer collegiate baseball.

Fogle has started and played in 32 games this season for the 15th ranked Flying Fleet in Erskine, South Carolina. The 6’2”, 225 pound sophomore is a Lexington, South Carolina native that has seen significant playing time during his first two seasons. This season, he is batting a stealthy .394 with 56 hits, 20 extra base hits, including nine home runs, and 42 runs-batted-in with an overall slugging percentage of .637. As a freshman, Fogle led Erskine with 14 homers, 65 hits and 83 runs-batted-in on the season, earning him a spot on the first team Carolinas-Virginia Athletics All-Conference Baseball team and a second team slot on the Rawlings ABCA South Atlantic Region Team.

Erskine College is currently 33-5 overall and 15-4 in the Conference Carolinas. The Flying Fleet’s ranking of 14th in the nation proves that the Conference Carolinas is one of the best conferences in NCAA Division II baseball. Conference foe Mount Olive recently lost the top ranking in the nation after holding it for five weeks.

The Forest City Owls are a member of the Coastal Plain League. Entering its 12th season, the CPL has 14 teams in the Virginias and Carolinas. The Owls begin the 2008 season on May 29 when they host the Gastonia Grizzlies at McNair Field in Forest City. For more information on the Owls visit http://www.forestcitybaseball.com.
