The majority of the Owls’ games will be against divisional opponents.
The Owls will host four games with out of division opponents in 2008: the Columbia Blowfish will play at McNair field on June 6 and July 24, the Outer Banks Dare Devils on June 18, and the Edenton Steamers on July 18. The Owls will travel to take on the Peninsula Pilots, Florence Red Wolves, Wilmington Sharks, and Wilson Tobs in out of division games this season.
In addition to Opening Day, other notable home dates on the Owls schedule include hosting the two time defending Petitt Cup Champion Thomasville Hi-Toms on Saturday July 5, and the season finale against the Asheboro Copperheads on August 4. The Owls have a home game every weekend during the season, and 10 Friday and Saturday home dates overall. The Owls will also host two exhibition games, one against the Catawba Valley Stars (June 2) and the other against the Kernersville Bulldogs (June 16).
The Coastal Plain League season will be divided into two halves, with the first half ending on June 30. The League’s All-Star Game will be held on July 22 and the postseason Petitt Cup Tournament will take place August 7, 8, and 9. Each half’s division winner earns a birth in the eight team tournament, and all remaining spots are filled with wild card teams based on the entire season’s overall record.
