On a rainy Memorial Day in Forest City, NC. The Forest City Owls took care of buisness winning the game 2-0 against the Catawba Valley Stars.
Returing Owl, Brandon Dusenberry pitched 4 scorless innings before giving it up to Troy Hall for three innings and Redmond Walsh for the last two. The owls pitchers combined for 14 strike outs, limiting the Stars to just five hits and perserving a team ERA of 0.00.
The Owls bats came alive in the second inning with RBI singles from both Jordan Eckard (his second RBI of the year) and Alex Reynolds. Reynolds would finish the game going 3-4 with a double and an RBI. The Owls would tally six hits on their way to their 2-0 victory.
Kendall McGowan would continue his hot work on the basepath, stealing his third bag of the season, he is the current team leader in stolen bases. Multiple Owls recorded stolen bases in the game including Elijah Henderson with two and Corbin Watson with one.
Defense came to shine as the Owls played very well in the field, turning their third double play of the season in the 4th, and two pick off plays in the 5th and a crucial one in the 9th, removed a few more Stars from the base base path and made the pitchers job a little bit easier.
The Owls will play in one more spring training game against the Charlotte Crushers from the Carolina-Virginia Summer Collegiate Leaague and will Start CPL play against the Lexington Blowfish in Lexington, SC on Thursday, May 25th.
