Connor Ollio threw a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out seven, while Todd Elwood's triple in the third inning led Forest City to split their doubleheader with Martinsville on Wednesday night, winning Game 2 by a score of 6-1.
The Owls then broke the game open in the third, scoring Elijah Henderson and Matthew Lumsden off a Todd Elwood triple, and Elwood eventually being knocked in off a Matthew Overton base knock. This increased the Owls lead to 4-0.
Martinsville's only response came in the fourth, as Tyler Riebock scored on an RBI groundout.
Forest City was able to add some insurance in the final two innings, as a Kendall McGowan sacrifice fly in the sixth scored Christopher, and Christopher later hit a sac fly in the seventh to score Henderson.
It was the second consecutive complete game for the Owls' pitching staff, who just came off the heels of Patrick Szczypinski's six inning performance in Game 1.
Forest City will head home tonight before turning back around to High Point-Thomasville tomorrow for a doubleheader with their fellow West Division rival.
Martinsville will also hit the road tomorrow for a matchup with the Wilson Tobs, who occupy the top spot in the North Division.
