Owls Roster Recruits Three New Players

As fall has arrived, the Forest City Owls are currently building their roster for the 2020 season.  Our organization is proud to introduce three first-time players to the team.  

Ryan Finegan, a Cummings, Ga. native, is a 5-6, 178-pound sophomore outfielder from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.  In his freshman year, Finegan appeared in 30 games while starting in 19 of them.  Finegan led his team in batting average (.366) and on-base percentage (.477).  During his time at South Forsyth High School, Finegan helped his team to the Region Championship in 2018.  He also was selected to the 2018 All-Region and All-County teams while also winning the Heart and Hustle Award.  While at Stevens Institute of Technology, Finegan will be majoring in business and technology. 

Ethan Anderson, a Woodstock, Ga. native, is a 6-3, 190-pound freshman catcher from the River Ridge High School.  In the state of Georgia, Anderson achieved a 21st ranking among high school players while also being the second-best catcher in the state.  On the national scale, 

Anderson was ranked as the 188th best player while being the 18th best catcher in the country.  He is entering his freshman year at the University of Tennessee where he is pursuing a major in Supply Chain Management.

Sam Mathews, a Fairfield, Ohio native, is a 5-10, 160-pound sophomore pitcher from Marietta College.  In his freshman year, Mathews posted a 5.33 ERA and recorded 40 strikeouts in 49.0 innings with 18 appearances.  He had a 3-2 record for the Pioneers and also recorded 6 saves.  This past summer, he played for the Green Bay Booyah in the Northwoods League where he appeared in three games.  He had a record of 1-0 and had four strikeouts and no walks in 3.1 innings pitched.  Mathews will be majoring in Finance.
