The Forest City Owls have signed four players from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill for the upcoming 2020 season. While three oof them will be first-time players for the Owls, there is a returner from our 2019 season who many of you will recognize.
Josh Dotson, an Asheville, NC native, will be returning for his second straight season with the Owls. The 6'1" 170-pound pitcher will be a sophomore this year at UNC. As a freshman, Dotson had a record of 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA. He had 27 strikeouts in 34.0 innings pitched as well.
Our first newcomer from UNC is Isaiah Bennett. The Fayetteville, NC native is a 6'0" 185-pound freshman pitcher. Bennett was selected in the 36th-round by the San Diego Padres in the 2019 MLB draft. He decided to forego signing with the Padres to join the Tar Heels baseball team. In high school, Bennett was ranked as the 2nd overall RHP in the state of North Carolina along with being the 46th ranked RHP in the nation.
Our second newcomer is Tyler Causey. The Fort Mill, SC native is a 6'6" 205-pound freshman shortstop. Causey was selected in the 37th-round of the 2019 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins. Like Bennett, he decided to forego signing with the Marlins to join the UNC baseball team. Causey was the 1st ranked shortstop in the state of South Carolina along with being the 53rd ranked shortstop in the nation.
Our third newcomer is Michael Oh. The Northbrook, IL native is a 6'4" 225-pound redshirt junior pitcher. Oh started his collegiate career at Creighton University and then transferred to North Iowa Area Community College. During his career at NIACC, he recorded 10 strikeouts in a game three times. His career ERA was a 2.62 and had a total of 89 career strikeouts.
