Two new players have been added to the Owls family. The first addition is Jake Hagenow, a Knoxville, TN native, is a 6'1" 180-pound redshirt sophomore catcher from Middle Tennessee State University. Coming out of high school, Hagenow was ranked the third best catcher in the state of Tennessee. During his freshman year at Middle Tennessee State University, he made 22 starts in 24 appearances. His first three games with the Blue Raiders, including his debut, he produced three straight multi-hit games. Hagenow was also named to the C-USA Commissioner' Honor Roll meaning he earned a 3.0-3.74 GPA during his freshman year for school. Hagenow will be majoring in computer science while attending Middle Tennessee State University.
Also added is Carson Lowder, an Albemarle, NC native, is a 6-1 220-pound freshman right-handed pitcher from Western Carolina University. At North Stanly High School, Lowder was a four-year starter on their varsity baseball team. In his senior year, he pitched 21.1 innings throughout 9 appearances. Lowder ended his senior year with a 2.30 ERA along with 32 strikeouts. His opponent batting average against was .184 while the opponent on-base percentage was .287.
With the signing of these two players, the Owls roster of 30 includes four from UNC, three from Tennessee, two from Clemson, one from Georgia, one from Georgia Tech, and one from Taiwan. And the Coastal Plain League's 2019 All-Star Garrett Blaylock, who led the Coastal Plain League in homeruns, will be returning for our 2020 season.
